recreational drugs should be legalised for consenting adults and taxed. we all know the current laws in europe cause our prisons to be overcrowded and the only people who really benefit from the situtaiuon of illegal drugs are the dealers.

I cant believe the reasoning of Western European pot-heads gets so much attention. Alcohol is not outlawed due to its ancient origins of widespread use, the proven health benefits of small doses and the fact that the majority of society are responsible consumers of the 'drug.' You cannot be a 'moderate' user of cannabis as a single joint causes the full psychoactive effect and also the risks are high even on first usage.

what about all the documented benefits of weed? what about all the documented detrimental consequences of alcohol consumption? there needs to be a more balanced approach. the question of tabacco needs to be included in this discussion too. should tabacoo be outlawed?

imagine if the authorities made tabaco illegal there would be more people in prison than out. actually its a good analogy. legalising soft recreational drugs would save the tax payer a fortune and allow the police to focus on real crime.
