has anyone gotr or does anyone know someone with solar power? does it work?

my uncle in america has got solar panels on this home. he reckons they provide about 75% of his energy.

it is becoming more popular here because more states are subsidising solar panels. i heard in some regions it only generates 50% of the electrical needs.

In the UK they cost alot! We don't get that much sun which could be why it could take 20 years to see savings on the bills, after the inital payout.

yep and in 20 years the cells life have expired and you need to get a replacement and start again

as cd says solar is not as practical in the uk as it would be in a sunnier climate. in the uk wind or wave power seems to be the way to go.

and how are solar panels made? are they made in china in polluting factories and the shipped around the world polluting the environment?
