problem with buing from offical distributors is they only sell to retail high shops
they don't sell to wholesalers or to online shops either , i've tried many distributors but hopefully that may change , i was speaking to a uk company on friday and there are looking into the idea selling to online shops,
anyway back to the main question because of this you have to go to wholsalers who do parrael imports

Yes companies DO sell to online shops! There are many official stockists online!

ZIPPO - I don't understand the 'risk' in buying from an 'unofficial source' selling just to save 10%. Saving 10% would be pointless - most are 30%-50% off & they are official products!

Ralph Lauren also have wholesalers opperations.
Armani also wholesale.

So from the looks of things many designers also have wholsale operations. Which looks like uk2004 may be correct?!

But designers/the companies are buying up the licences for distribution themselves. They therefore have greater control over their products. They are also buying the manufacturing licences aswell. These is what Armani is doing & I think what D&G have done - they set up other companies to deal with that particular side of the business e.g manufacture or distribution. Versace owned companies own all of their manufacturing / distribution.

The codes are sometimes removed (NOT always!!!!). This is so they cant be traced back to the official distributor who sold them in what ever country as this could POSSIBLY break their license.

in my experience no major brand allows "wholesalers" to officially sell their garments. cd, what is the name of the official wholesaler selling moschino, armani and rl?

also it would be impossible for a parallel importer to offer 50% discount because official retailers dont even make that profit margin. so if a parallel import is offering 50% discount they are taking a loss which makes no sense or they are selling fakes in the guise of parallel imports.

also any parallel imported garment must have the code removed or replaced with a bogus code otherwise the brand will trace it back to the bent distributor or agent they they will lose their license.

I don't know the names of wholesalers! I've never said I have! UK2004 has said he knows of some in Italy. Again I say I don't know about what happens in Italy!

All I know is that Moschino, Armani & RL all have individual wholesale operations, as I said. Not together!!!!!

What your forgeting is the MASSIVE price difference between UK & the rest of Europe & the World! Even if official wholesalers don't have a 100% profit margin, that doesn't mean that PIs can't sell in the UK at UPTO 50% discount (average is about 30% - 50%)! UK official retailers will be paying much more than PI's getting them from another country.

You also have to remember that offcial sotckists have to have the 'right' image/location etc! All this costs HUGE amounts of money which is passed on to the consumer!!!! Companies that sell PIs don't have to worry as much about this or sell online - thus doing away with thousands & thousands on uncessary overheads!

have you got an address for these official wholesaler operations? this is news to me. to my knowledge brands only allow distributors and agents to sell in bulk.

i can see what your saying about cheaper costs for retailers in italy so they buy more and sell onto PIs. but still if the PI is selling for 30 or 50% cheaper they cant be making much profit. also we have to accept theres a very blurred edge between PIs and fakes.

You'll find that the main PI's charge between 35-45% lower than retail shops,
