Default Watch on togged.

I was looking at a couple of watches on Togged and was considering a Christian Dior one. However it is sold by amazon.com so i would be stung for tax! Anybody know a european site for this for about the same price (it is 530usd here).

21% plus 2% in duty. Would be another 100 dollars onto the cost anyway.

how does that work? i bought stuff from amazon and never had any taxes to pay. is it different in republuic ireland to uk?

It is from america not the uk. If it was the uk I wouldn't pay tax.

This could be where the buying abroad thing I was on about comes into play!

Whilst on the subject :
Anyone in the US want to 'test' it?
I want to get a couple of small items from there but they only ship to USA!!

Yeah it could do. If it was sent by the normal postal services and marked as a low value gift I would almost certainly evade tax.

never use the word "evade" when it comes to tax so you pay 21% when ordering from the us to south ireland? i don't think i paid tax when i ordered a book from the us delivered to england. unless it was sneaked in without me knowing it.

You wouldn't get charged for a book. You get charged if it of a high enough value and sent by courier. For instance I bought golf clubs from america, shipped by fedex and charged for tax a few weeks later.
