the past few years a lot of sales have started pre-Christmas. i think it will be the same this year.

That is definitely a growing trend and with the world economy in a troth like it is and the Internet taking business away from the High Street, more and more stores are going to have their sales early.

I guess it will depend on the weather also. I heard reports that because we didn't have a summer (well the actual weather for a summer) stores had loads of summer clothing left. So if we have a mild winter will there be loads of winter clothing for us in the sale?

I also think people are wising up to the fact that you pay FULL price before Christmas and then can get a substancial discount just a day or 2 after Christmas! If you can wait - you would surely be crazy to buy before Christmas. Obviously different for some people, kids etc.

i expect most of the sales to start around the19-20th of dec. maybe even earlier.

Last year here they started on the 27th. Although, this weekend Brown Thomas had 20% off just for the weekend. I didn't go in though.
