Default Savile Row

Just saw an advert for Savile Row on BBC. My Virgin V+ box has been playing (not changing channels or recording!) but anyway I fixed it by turning the TV off!
So I caught it at 12.30am!!
I think it was the last part of a 3 part series.
I've just looked and the 2 part is still on BBC iplayer for the next 4 days - BBC - BBC iPlayer - Programme Information - Savile Row
The final part which I watched should be on iplayer soon.
Was quite interesting - basically it followed those on Savile Row trying to get Savile Row back on the 'map'.
Have a watch - quite interesting!
UK2004 - one for you me thinks!

Recorded all three. the first one was about the worry of traditional tailors to Evisu moving in.

Saville Row is 'trendy' I suppose. Depends how you define the term but people like Boateng have certainly helped move its image from very traditional styles to a more modern look.

Saw all the episodes as it was on after masterchef. Bits made me chuckle, most of all the general course of them trying to say that they are not interested in touting for business or bringing in new money types yet trying at every opportunity to get business even opning ready to wear shops in China and the states etc and going to exhibitions for Russians, bringing in brand consultants etc. They had meetings to liven up the brand and next minute they are saying they rely on word of mouth and don't need street signs etc. Also found it amusing how they spoke of their prices as if they were expensive lol 3k for a bespoke suit, won't get you otr Kiton suit.

Keep it italian. To me the british tailors are stuck in the past. The Italian suits look far more sleek. Shame really for the British.

in fact jimmy savile used to get all his outlandish gear tailor made, most likely down savile row. he was ahead of his time in fashion terms with all that gold and shiny material, he was a hip-hop demi-god and nobody even knew it.
