its not a big problem, but what pringle said. sometimes you cant shop in the good shops(its hard to get a hand on where i live). or you cant find the model youve seen in the internet..
my whole live would be so much easier if designers just made 1 standard :p

It's euro sizing.
Size conversions for American, British and European clothing and shoes
Euro 47 comes up as in between 36" and 38" chest in British sizing. I'd be a size 54 in euro= 42" chest.
54 Italian is a 44 inch chest in british sizing.

The point remains, designers are only saying, essentially, that this one is bigger or smaller than this one. They are under no compunction, nor should they be, to make those differences colate with other designers. Although i agree it would aid online shoppers.

Well give or take... I was just going by what the conversion said, but no doubt it all varies slightly.

Yeah I fully agree. Most sizes aren't that ACTUAL size anyway if you measure. The garment is simply made to fit a chest of that particular size, roughly. Like a 34" waist jeans won't be 34" exactly. A 42" chest shirt won't be 42". It's all a rough estimate and the sizings and S, M, L, XL are all just guidelines. You are right thought that trying it on is best, even if it means going to a local shop, finding out what size you need then buying it cheaper online when you get home.

Not sure what conversion you looked at but never been told by any Italian stores anything other than 54=44 and 52=42 and got over 100 Itlaian garments.

At end of day who cares if it does not fit the same as another garment in same size for example a pair of jeans, I don't want people online ordering Kiton and Borelli shirts and popping up with them all over, exclusivity of the product is important, if people don't live near cities that stock the product then visit and buy it and try it on. Once you have bought many rpoducts form the different brands you learn what ize you need for each range plus cut that they do it becomes very easy.

We have to give brands some license for wiggle-room. The problem with D&G is they want to rewrite the sizing-convention.

The conversion that I linked in my post which could possibly be wrong. You're probably right, but hey, to be quite honest I couldn't give a rats arse. It matters little to me.

I doubt many could afford, let alone see the sense in buying a high end dress shirt like Kiton or Borelli (you forgot to namedrop D&G, Corneliani, Brioni and Etro btw) over the internet. It's a piece of clothing that needs to be tried on for the perfect fit.

Remember also that not everyone spends all their money on clothing or gives a shit about expensive clothing, people have other interests/hobbies besides buying clothes, so don't worry about your high end labels "selling out".

LOL calm down mate why you getting heated! You've missed the point, I only mentioned those two as I couldn't care how many people have designer brands like Etro, Dolce Gabbana and the mid market tailoring houses like Corneliani and Canali they are common products, the other two aren't and don't want to be, that's why they are sold in so few outlets ina ddition to their own stores.

Nobody mentioned people spending all their money on clothing, where you get that from, not good to make assumptions about people.
