Bass: one thing: you either like it or not. can't argue with that...
but your statement makes me think that you were
grabbing on to a new trend what it sounds when it suited you....
over for you by 82 you say!?
interesting and confusing since their selftitled debut album was released 83'!
but perhaps you are talking pre release.
as a european growing up listening to a lot of punk and HC i sure has witness a lot of "aggro" at gigs as well here in europe as well as in the US. Can't answer what the scene was like mid 80's in LA and Venice Beach but knowing Suicidals background and gang relations I am aware of what you are talking about.
Was in Venice Beach in summer of 90 and ended up right in a middle of a riot and managed to escape into me and my friends car to drive to safety. that was a scary experience I can tell you.... the whole area was later declared as an area with a curfew by the police, with empty streets. by telling you this I am saying that I can imagine what people they attracted to their gigs.
You Can't Bring Them Down (am sure you know where that is coming from....)for what they have done musically because of their following.
'Join the Army' and 'How Will I Laugh Tomorrow' are still albums that makes my list of top albums ever.
The latter is a groundbreaking album that took the HC in to Metal Land IMO.
In regards to the Tee; I take it as as insult and there is nothing humorous about it. (Even though it makes me smile to see the chosen fonts...)
Would have been different if done as a tribute in the style of what
WE are superlative concpiracy did a couple of years ago. Even though I don't think many people picked up on that.
SUICIDAL FOR LIFE!!!
...and a shit tee. Would NEVER wear it.
