black models
is naomi campbell right about this? :-
ABUJA (Reuters) - British supermodel Naomi Campbell refuses to retire after more than two decades on the world's catwalks because there are still too few black beauties in the fashion industry.
While many of her colleagues of the late 1980s -- like Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington -- have moved on from the runways, the 38-year-old icon continues to turn heads at the world's top fashion shows.
"I'm very grateful for my career, but I worry for the girls after me for the opportunities they get -- the way they get treated. And this is one of the reasons I still do what I do," she told Reuters in a weekend interview in Nigeria.
Campbell, who as a teenager was the first black model to grace the covers of the French and British editions of Vogue magazine, said many fashion designers still favored fair-skinned models over their dark-skinned counterparts.

This type of stuff REALLY Pees me off!
Why does she have to make a big deal out of it?
In a industry which is all about the how things 'look' it seems a bit stupid to make these comments. If a designer wants to use white models - let them. If they want to use black models - let them. It is the designers choice. They shouldn't be forced to use one type of person. So she is wanting designers to discriminate against white models so there are some black models. Positive discrimination - very wrong.
It seems discrimination against black people is bad but discrimination against overweight, short, disabled etc is ok?
She's hardly a great example to encourage the use of black models is she? Surely if she was that bothered she would have acted in a professional manner rather than getting up to all the shenanigans we hear of!
I wish she'd shut up!!

naomi is just trying to deflect all the bad press she's getting recently. the women is a hard core drug addict and a volatile temperament who's in constant trouble for abusing her staff so she wants to try to ignore that and use this issue as a smoke screen.

How are the girls treated? I wish Naomi would say what is on her mind.
I find models now are a mix of all different cultures, perfect example Chanel Iman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .
The lines between race is blured now especailly in fashion, Designers make the clothes and should have a say as to how their collection is presented. Flavour of the month is how I see it, if a model appeals to an audience one year, they may not be the same the next.
I disagree with Naomi.
