Evisu S/S 2009 Collection - opinions?

I just watched the 'new' Evisu collection on the blog:

Anyways it's here for quick reference aswell :

I like some Evisu products and really hate others. I respect what they did with the Japanese denim craze and all that. I also realise they have built a brand/company around selling jeans.....BUT isn't it about time they got a bit creative or tried something different? Just watching that show I only saw a handful of things which I felt were half decent (most of which weren't clothing).

Alot of the designs were extremely similar to past collections - gulls on the shoulders, down the side, multiple pocket jeans etc. It just seemed so boring - the most inspirational thing was the models carrying fishing rods - reminding everyone it was 'inspired' by fishing!

Are Evisu relying too heavily on the gull and jeans and just not being creative enough?

The models aswell looked as though they couldn't be bothered - maybe Evisu's non-existant passion rubbed off on them!

out of curiousity, which brands do you feel are currently being very creative and inspiring?

lol the guy on 2:55 is wearing a fish as a tie.. thats classy

and whats up with the guy on 9:30.. looks like some good looking backpockets, but they f***ed em up by cutting them till hotpants.
and must agree on the models.. im no expert, but i can do this. looks like ****

Hi

Evisu, has made a HUGE contribution to the denim world, opened many eyes to the ideas of Japanese Denim and produced some beautiful thing, but I think it a bit off that they keep on this 'we're Japanese tip' when it's mostly produced in China and the denim is made in India, I would never run down what they have done in the past, but this is a bit safe and standard.....

trouble is the bigger there get the more mouths they have to feed and the safer there clothing design is...bit like manufacture pop culture...do you not think?

i believe nearly all evisu is now produced in macau?
