Default Kickers receives Superbrand status

"Iconic footwear brand Kickers is one of the UK’s leading brands in the Superbrands 2008 list. The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA) selected the label on behalf of the Superbrands organisation. TCBA tapped into the views of a voluntary council of experts and over 1500 consumers to be recognised by the British public as representing quality, reliability and distinction.

Superbrands is an initiative from the global branding arbiters Superbrands Organisation. The project is in its twelfth year and is a key annual barometer on the performance of brands across a wide variety of sectors.

Stephen Cheliotis, Chief Executive of the Centre for Brand Analysis and Chairman of the Superbrands Council said: “With crowded markets across a range of sectors, effective branding has never been as important as it is today and will be in the future. A company needs to be able to distinguish itself from its competitors and build a relationship with the consumer. By achieving Superbrand status, Kickers is a shining example of a brand that is leading the way in how to do just that.”

which leads to the question, which brand would you give superbrand status to? i would give it to stone island.

I think they should hold back on giving Kickers 'Superbrand' status!
A couple of years ago people wouldn't be seen dead in Kickers! Years ago everyone owned a pair - even my dad did (before me!) then they just died.
Now they are climbing back to the top. Shouldn't they stay there for a few years before deciding on this status?

Paul Smith would be good.

Hello

Centre for Brand Analysis, is a PR business, super-brands is at worst a vehicle for the brands to have an alleged 'cool' image to boast the sales and lift the profile of the product.

this is an open forum for us all to talk about the brands and there product, how many people here have Kickers and until they were made a 'superbrand' even thought about them as much more than a old school boot, I had some at the end of the 1980's still have a pair somewhere (I think!) but there not a super-brand,

to me, this is more a way of 'buying creatability' than designing something that would make us all talk about it.

have a look at the website: The Centre for Brand Analysis

RAC

PS agree with CD here, about climbing back and proving there are a solid brand, before saying there a super brand!!!!
