I see Henri Lloyd as being strict Sailing-wear rather than a fashion brand. BTW, who used the logo first Henri Lloyd or Fred Perry?

i am way off. they dont call me dumb for nothing

In the late 1940s Perry was approached by Tibby Wegner, an Austrian footballer who had invented an anti-perspirant device worn around the wrist. Perry made a few changes and invented the sweatband. Wegner's next idea was to produce a sports shirt which was to be made from white knitted cotton pique with short sleeves and buttons down the front. Launched at Wimbledon in 1952, the Fred Perry polo shirt was an immediate success. The brand is best known for its laurel logo, which appears on the left breast of the tennis shirts. The laurel logo (based on the old Wimbledon symbol) was stitched into the fabric of the shirt instead of merely ironed on (as was the case with the crocodile logo of the competing Lacoste brand).

Manufacturers of 'Advanced Marine Technology' Sailing and Yachting Foul Weather clothing. Based in Manchester since 1963, Henri-LLoyd also have a men's and ladies' fashion clothing range.

from that i take it fred perry is 11 years older than henri lloyd. the laurel logo is one of those archetypes that jung babbled on about so no one came claim it.

To be honest I ain't been seen in HL since I was about 16 when I used to wear an HL knit for school, so we are talking 10 years ago. Paul & Shark are one of my faves especially for jumpers etc.. I must say the
quality of their gear is unrivalled

Hello

the loge on both FP and HL comes from the winning of a trophy FP Wimbledon and HL many many sailing and yachting trophies, side note FP was asked to remove part of there logo due to it was a 'ungentlemanly' infringement of the lawn tennis association identity......

I must say HL has been producing great pieces for years, one of the most innovative sailing clothing companies in the world, as opposed to a polo shirt, which they can not make with just there logo due to trademark issues!

what a fun world

RAC
