it was an interesting thread. i never had any probs with neil, thought it was an honest attempt to tell the "world" about a passion.
in regards to if kato benefited or not I don't know, but it has not stopping him from spreading the word through kmo. see other thread ‘Untitled? innovative initiative by ASOS Kitmeout
And why not!?

Hello

I, too, read the thread and know what a shy person he is, I thought he was railroaded on a few points and his attempt to share his knowledge, which is immense, was then the wrong way, did you know he's one of very few who have got 'cut' denim in Japan, for a 'non-local' that alone is amazing, he's worked for twenty plus years selling, buying and making one of the first red-liners and worked on two books on denim....but then I was lucky enough to work with him for a short while.

I feel he got a shitty deal on here and guessing that is why he stopped posting, he's on FB and the Kato FB page has a lot more of his work.

as for the ASOS, he didn't post it and I do doubt is anything to do with him, to start with boxfresh and north sails are not denim companies and he'd never call himself an expert.

it looks to me that a lot of the business, come through sites like this and little or no respect is given to them, we all have an option but until you do something it just an option not experience.

IMO Neil had a very receptive and positive thread promoting Kato. I think most people on Kitmeout enjoy the thread and discourse, including Neil. BTW, Hugo did you receive your prize from Neil?

hello,

One question to you, sir...... how did Neil benefit?

No one benefits from having there passion and helpful nature attacked by someone who is just looking for a reason to not trust the information in front of them or the giver of the information, a lot of people 'spin' the facts but people with a passion for there business normally talk about there passion not there business, I've not seen Neil for awhile and don't know if he's changed to the degree of spinning his passion but I do doubt it, he had the honesty to say who he was before he said anything and even that was attacked. has he posted on here since?

As for the Kato brand, I'm not in PR and I don't know the true value of how this would effect the brand or its sales....how many people put there hand in there pocket and bought any Kato' product after that?

UK2000, does have aright to question as do we all, but did UK2000 answer any of the question put to him.

imho the contention between neil and uk2004 was a mere incidental to the informative and progress discussion in the kato thread. uk2004 had the right to question neil's motives as neil had the right to express his views and promote his brand in a positive light. overall the contention between neil and uk2004 was such a miniscule component of the thread i am surprised so much focus has been placed on it. really it's a shame because it distracts from all the positives in the thread.

any brand owner will benefit from having their relatively unknown brand exposed to 10s of thousands of people in a fashion forum like kitmeout.

no one attacked neil neil promoted his kato brand with a harmless little competition. granted uk2004 took exception but that was a little side debate within the overall thread which from what i can see many kitmeout members enjoyed.

and just to be fair to neil he didn't propose the kato competition, it just organically transpired within the thread.
