I like the styles I've seen, still seem pretty original every season to me.

Agree!
I've never taken much notice of G Star - doesn't appeal too me. I don't really like the 'position' of the brand.

G Star are releasing a premium line called Raw Listing. The Jeans will retail in excess of £200 a pair! Should be interesting to see if that takes off given how many established Denim companies they will have to compete against in that price sector.

can a brand be all things to all people and keep it's credability? i mean can a brand sell bog standard $30 jeans and $300 premium denim under the same name. can this evening work if classified as a diffusion line?

Hmmmm....good question, I would say probably not. If the Diffusion line is so completely seperate that most people dont know the connection with the premium brand then maybe it would work. Fact is people are buying into a name. After all if Ferrari decided to release a 4 door Hatchback family car, everybody could afford a Ferrari then. When somebody says they own a Ferrari I know without even knowing how old the car is or what model it is that they own something special!

I think they could - too a certain extent. Maybe the above prices are a bit unrealistic - just 10% of the top selling price.
Look at how many designers have difusion lines - probably ALL of them! Alot do have some kind of 'sport' or 'jeans' lines which tend to cater for those with a smaller amount to spend.
Maybe something like $60 or $90 is a bit more realistic - 20% to 30%. Would be good to do a comparison. I bet RMC wouldn't be that far off. $290 upto $1200 on DJ premium. Even then $290 aren't exactly 'budget' are they!

good point. if armani started knocking out authentic jeans for £19.99 his credibility would soon be shot because the price implies no r&d, poor materials and shoddy production.
