I thought I really like it at first. Looked look a Paul & Shark jumper. Then I realised that it was an ultra chunky knit - which I've never liked! the £2k price tag makes it even more unappealling.

Good idea Machiel.
Would be interesting to compare brands and see exactly how much items cost to make and cost to sell and what % we are paying for the label. I guess we sadly know what the outcome will be - too much!

Much of the cost of designer brands is a result of the amount spent on marketing as apposed to the physical constuction, dealer mark up, etc,. If you spend mega bucks on glossy magazine ads, its got to be paid for somehow.

EXACTLY IT! A WHEEL WITHIN A WHEEL BECOMES AN INSATIABLE MONEY PIT AND SOMEONE HAS TO FEED AND THAT MY FRIENDS IS THE GULLIBLE CONSUMER. I RATE GALLIANO HIGHLY. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD PAY $2K FOR A RATHER DULL LOOKING CHUNKY BLACK CARDIGAN SIMPLY BECAUSE IT HAS A GALLIANO LABEL. ON A SIDE NOTE, I DID PAY £600 FOR ONE OF HIS CARDIGANS FROM THE KURT COBAIN COLLECTION.

Given the connection to both John Galliano as designer and Kurt Cobain as the inspiration I am willing to bet that Cardigan is worth a mint now!!
