diesel jeans 30th anniversary
did anyone get involved in the diesel jeans 30th anniversary last night?
Renzo Rosso doesn’t like to do things small scale. Proving the point: Rosso plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his Diesel brand by organizing 17 parties in eight time zones — from Tokyo to New York via the likes of Dubai, Zurich, Munich and Oslo — all on Saturday night.
Diesel challenged its operations in each city to create a unique concept, from the giant “Rock ’n’ Roll Circus” à la Mick Jagger in New York, where Rosso will be and which will feature concerts by the likes of N.E.R.D., M.I.A. and Hot Chip, to an “entertainment spaceship” crash landing on Tokyo.
----------------
When Renzo Rosso founded the company in 1978, he wanted it to be a leader, a company that took chances and carved out a niche for itself in its field. He surrounded himself with creative, talented people - innovators who, like him, rejected the slavish trend following typical of the fashion industry.
He wanted to create the most dynamic and imaginative product available anywhere: he gave his openminded design team broad stylistic freedom, and their mission was to create an apparel line perfect for independent people who follow their own unique path in life and for those style-makers who express their individuality by the way they dress.
From the very beginning, Diesel's design team, headed by Creative Director Wilbert Das, turned their backs on the style-dictators and consumer forecasters of the fashion establishment and let their own personal tastes lead them. Thee company views the world as a single, border-less macro-culture, and the Diesel staff reflects this: a cosmopolitan team that creates an unpredictable, dynamic vitality and energy within the company.
Diesel ''people'' and their working methods are so unconventional, albeit productive, that they have been profiled in countless media, and have been studied by international consulting organizations and universities.
----------------
is anyone able to defend the claim that diesel are unconventional and inventive? i see the brand as being weak and comfortative to the core.

I do like some Diesel stuff, but Ive noticed that one season I wont like anything much, then the next seasons designs I like most of the designs. I guess it depends on the theme at the time and colour schemes used.

Just too bad Oslo is 6-8 hours away depending on driving speed, otherwise i'd use any reason possible to party (even though i don't think i've got a single item from Diesel)
