Got to say those Vertu phones do look pretty stunning, we have a dealer in Birmingham who sells them. That said, technology wise they are pretty basic, these really are a case of style over substance, I'll stick with my new Nokia N97

Fashion definitely influences technology. I would guess technology influences fashion less. I could be wrong? I remember Massimo Osti did a great deal of experimentation to see if technology could be incorporated directly into his designs.

Yeah, Vertu is really not packed with the most up-to-date technology but they sure look good. Interesting enough in Finland those are only sold at the Nokia flagship store. I don't think they're affiliated to Nokia though. Or who knows. And I did see that Nokia N97 you got, good stuff main...
I think technology is surely affected by fashion, i mean just look at the design aspect of most of the gadget coming out nowadays, they need to look sexy, heh. Then again fashion accessories are also affected by the technology, with iPhone cases, blackberry pockets in bags and such, heh.

what do you all think of the apple mac advertising campaign, trying to give the impression that mac's are "cool" in comparison to studgy old pcs? i personally dinf it really patronising and that's why i'll never buy a mac.

I find most of the ads quite amusing but of course might rub some the wrong way. Didn't find them too offending, just pointing out what people have already stated. I've been a mac user for a long time and really love my macbook after several problems with my previous pcs. But hey mac is a personal computer as well right, heh. My wife again prefers PCs over mac. Everyone's got their own preferences. Much love to both macs and pcs, heh.

I own a Windows based PC but have used Macs in the past and for the average user there is little to divide them, if all you use your computer for is internet and printing stuff off. Obviously if you are a gamer you will probably favour PC's and if you are into photography/desktop publishing then perhaps a Mac would be better. Certainly macs are seen as sexier, but there is no reason why a PC couldnt be put into a pretty lifestyle freindy package, indeed many companies already offer such products. Perhaps the reason why there is a perception that PCs are more troublesome is purely because there is more of them, they outnumber Macs considerably. PC s also tend to be affected by viruses and the like more easily as hackers tend to want to attack the largest number of computer users as possible, so the Mac operating system is rarely attacked. Lets not forget that price for price Macs are generally much more expensive than a similarly spec'd PC too.
