Default mcqueen catwalk movie

are movies the catwalk future?

Rebel designer Alexander McQueen stayed away from the catwalks this week and instead showed his men's spring summer 2010 collection via the medium film, made in collaboration with the photographer David Sims.

The collection, entitled Analyze That, was inspired by the craft of the artist, conveyed through artisanal techniques and an individual spirit that took menswear outside the rules of convention, reports WGSN.

Hence the washed leather pants, the overdyed and washed denim jackets and the paint flecks highlighting a classic Prince of Wales check. There was an unconventional twist, too, in the scribbled eagle print etching a soft voile shirt, or in the hand-painted stripes decorating knitwear and the painterly hand prints defining the jacket of a denim suit.

Silhouettes were soft and relaxed with an easy shoulder-line and full pant shapes and there were subtle decorative details that suggested this artist at least has a sartorial edge, with rich mercury-like jacquards, metallic topstitching and taffeta lapels.

Exposure of any brand in the movies should not be under estimated. Even some video games show endorsements during game play. Without dought many people are swayed towards brands by what they see in movies/ T.V. probably more than any catwalk so this is probably the future way many brands will promote themselves.

I totally agree. Movies are force to be reckoned with when it comes to getting exposure to your brand. What dunny mentioned about video games is true too. Movies and games work well to target the wanted segment worldwide.

it also breaks down barriers. fashion shows are usually invitation only and will usually involve a lot of travelling. a movie is accessible to everyone and with the net they can be real time movies so everyone can experience the event together.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw that in the not so distant future. sounds pretty doable.

With the advent of Apple and its i Phone/i pod I would be inclined to say its the other way round. Its not how well the computer device actually works anymore ( most PC's are way more powerful than any average user will ever need anyway) its all about how it looks and intergrates into ones lifestyle that matters more and pushes sales. I am certain that one day we will see a PC collab with a big designer name, say Louis Vuitton styled Macbook, and trust me they will sell every one they make!

How about the luxury laptops from Luvaglio and Singulum, 30 000 to 1 million bucks for a notebook, heh. Somehow I got a feeling that I have seen a collaboration like that but I could be wrong. I guess for those Luvaglio/Singulum items the main clientele are the same customers who purchase their 18000$ Vertu phones. Heh, I checked this short documentary about a mogul in Dubai, he bought a Vertu phone and they build the phone to his specifications, he gets to see them make the phone and once he got the phone to his hands, all happy owners of the phone fly to Monaco in a private Jet to celebrate. Hahaha...
