Many designer brands do not have their logo in any visible place. Brands like Rick Owens, and Lanvin. Most of my clothes have no visible branding. I go for the cut, style and quality of the garments.

it would be interesting to do a test. take exactly the same garment and tell people one is a big brand name like lanvin and the other a new brand from china. i wonder how many people would same the former is superior quality, cut, style etc?

I am sure a lot of people would just lash out on the "chinese brand" as lower quality, heh. Needless to say for many it is the brand/logo that gives to connotation of quality, heh.

And like Pinoni said, whether we like to admit it or not, we do buy the name.

what would you choose:

1) a fake of a big brand

2) a genuine quality item of a little known brand

?

Number 2. Definitely a genuine quality item.

Number 2 for me too, I would be mortified if somebody realised what I was wearing was fake. I love it when I spot a fake item and tell the person so, more often than not they will insist it isnt even when the evidence is staring them in the face! In addition there is no shame in wearing clothing from generic no brand names, if you really are not too bothered about designer gear anyway.

i agree.
it is all marketing behind it.
and I admit, I fall for it. perhaps not so much big billboard brands, but tiny little notes and editorials in magazine make me think I am on to something.
