Esteem, everybody has the basic need to fit in and we do what we can to fit in the society. Respect and be respected etc. How we see ourselves and want others to see us.

Self actualization; awareness of one's own being, morals and creativity to name a few.

The above deficiency needs are the basic needs of human being and if these are not met individual psyche is disturbed and cause anxious feelings and tension.

Basically these basic needs are harnessed in many marketing efforts in portraying products in a manner improving their lifestyle, whether it's increasing security or enhancing one's social status and thus esteem. We all need to fit in. Otherwise we are unable to function in the society.

That's it in a nutshell. There is a lot of stuff written about Maslow and his hierarchies. The hierarchies have somewhat evolved along the years but the basics remain there.

got it. interesting stuff.

Well who would have thought it, but there is a brand who is actually is going ahead with no branding on their products, well for a short time anyway. FreshJive have announced they will remove all signs of branding, be interesting to see what happens. Anyway for more details check out Highsnobiety,

It's Basically The Same As The Brand Called "no Name". It's A Complete Contradiction In Terms Imo.

A nice marketing move, but nothing more than a gimmick and press time. IMO. Like Bass said it, it is somewhat contradictory, heh. The whole no-name label itself is a form of branding. But as said, nice marketing approach.

the whole concept of trying to take the higher ground whilst indirectly exploiting consumers by reversing marketing is reprehensible.
