Jasmine Al Fayed
Yet another London-based designer is returning to the city’s fashion week this fall. Designer Jasmine Al Fayed will show her spring 2010 Jasmine Di Milo collection at Somerset House — London Fashion Week’s new venue — in September. Al Fayed, who’s the daughter of Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed, had since 2006 shown her collections in Paris, following the label’s launch in 2003. Al Fayed joins labels including Burberry, Pringle of Scotland, Matthew Williamson and Jonathan Saunders in returning to show at London Fashion Week next season, which marks the British Fashion Council’s 25th anniversary.

Thats one thing I will say about the fashion industry, you cant buy credibility no matter how rich you are. I mean the likes of Stella McCartney, despite all the cash she could have from her father Paul, has still had to come up with designs people actually like and want to buy and wear. If you have no talent then no amount of cash is going to change that. If anything just buying a brand simply so you can have your own fashion house is likely to put fans of that brand off buying anymore. This is a similar situation to Bape at the moment, there is a new guy doing the designs instead of Nigo and I am sure die hard Bape fans will rebel!

Happens to many brands. Bigger corporations absorb the company, new folks star doing the thinking and production and suddenly start to alienate the core audience. Just sad what has happened to Kato jeans for instance.

There has been a lot of stuff circulating about kato being pretty much absorbed by a bigger company. Just hoping they keep the brand and the quality as it is...
Kato thread has some info on it.

Good question. Maybe to draw the attention off her name. I mean I guess she wants to make name for herself and not be just another al fayed.
