i didn't realise they are made of bear fur.

I suspect the only reason they continue to remain being made out of real fur is a traditional one. Difficult to have an opinion on this either way, clearly it isnt a fashion accessory so does it still make it OK to use real fur?

am not sure, but I hear it is the very hot thing to be seen in at the moment, in grizzly circles.

I would imagine bear fur to be very good for winter gear. They use bear skin for rugs more often but I guess it's challenging to use it in fashion due to its thickness...
